Regina Music Box Serial Number Lookup: Discover the History and Beauty of Your Old Music Box[^2^]

MBSI is the keeper of the original Regina shipping records, saved from its Rahway, NJ, factory. Any owner of a Regina disc music box can obtain the pedigree of their Regina in the form of a certificate showing the date it was shipped and to whom. Send the serial number of the machine, together with a $5 check made payable to the M.B.S.I., to MBSI, PO Box 10196, Springfield, MO 65808-0196. Certificates may also be ordered on the MBSI Store page of this web site.

The Regina music box Company produced more than 100,000 music boxes between 1892 and 1920. Only a relatively small number of Regina music boxes have survived 2 world wars scrap metal drives and other forms of elimination.

However, the divide between European and American genres in both of the American collections (a two disc difference in the first and a six disc difference in the second) do not have the same disparity as the European collection which has an 86-disc gap. Breaking down these numbers further into specific genres provides a better idea of what exactly constitutes part of these American4 and European5 genres. In the American collections, American folk and popular songs outnumber the other categories. European dance music, however, far exceeds all other genre categories in the Russian collection. From this data, I speculate that American consumers very much enjoyed and potentially preferred new American popular genres even as they clung to the fashion and tradition of their European ancestry, while European music box customers preferred their own genres to the American ones.

Each Victor phonograph is designed with a metal dataplate. It is placed either on or near the motorboard (for models that have lids); on the side part of the phonograph (for most models with external horn and those that are lidless); or beneath the turntable (for the cheaper models and some that were launched in the 20s). In order to view some plates, the turntable should first be lifted straight up and then off the motorboard. Each dataplate has a serial number found on the right and a model identification that is stamped on the left. Each model comes with a unique serialization.

As for straight (non player) pianos, Regina sold a "Reginapiano, style B" from 1906 to 1910. This could be what you have. About 85 of them were sold, and they mostly had serial numbers in the 22,000 to 35,000 range (the original maker's numbers, whoever that was), although a few numbers were higher or lower. I don't know what these looked like but if your piano has this number that's likely what it is/was.

You may have found our website after a fruitless internet search trying to find information on your accordion's brand name. Perhaps you're thinking you have a rare and valuable accordion because you can't find out anything about it - unfortunately, that's probably not the case. In the "Golden Age" of accordion manufacturing in Italy (the mid 1900s), there were literally hundreds of accordion companies and brand names making instruments. Though a handful of them are still in operation, most stopped manufacturing decades ago, and there is little historical information available about these companies. Your accordion may even have a serial number, but in most cases there are no records for tracking these numbers.
